20 conditions

My first Gold Duke of Edinburgh Assessment of the summer starts tomorrow, so today I took my time wandering over to meet the group.
They didn't arrive in Eskdale till late, so I had time to have a wander around the Duddon Valley, surely a contender for most beautiful valley in the country. Sadly cloud base was just above the trees, but along the river was wonderful - though its suddenly cold in the North.

2 have dropped out since training, but that's cool, part of growing up and developing, the remaining participants are now two teams and seem keen if a little apprehensive. I've had to leave them with some homework to reconsider the aim and associated project for their expeditions - but the routes look well thought out. There's quite a disparity in difficulty; equally at training there was quite a disparity of ability.
For those not familiar with the Award there are 20 conditions that need to be met, so the real fun starts tomorrow....
