Street Pipe ...

Pipes, like in the picture, are often called Gouda (a city in The Netherlands) Gouda pipes. But they were not invited by craftsmen from Gouda. History learns another story.

In England, the first pipe makers began to manufacture the white baking pipes. Some of these pipe makers, who went to the Mauritian Army, went into a garrison in Gouda and saw that the city had well-equipped pottery shops. They took up their old course and left their products in the existing ovens ... ;-)

This giant pipe I found in the centre of Leeuwarden (Friesland). I found it a silly view, just something for the silly Saturday challenge #45. Big thanks to Admirer for being so kind hosting this challenge for us.

Thank you for visiting my journal, your kind comments and supporting stars and heart for yesterday's "Purple Loosestrife ... ". It's all highly appreciated!
