Do you think that ducks can get bored?

This teenage goosander and four siblings looked well and truly hacked off as they sat and preened - or in this case just sat - on an island of pebbles in the middle of the River Kent.  The river is so low at the moment that there's not much water for them to dive and swim in.

And then, of course, it's the last week of the school holidays so they're probably fed up about that.  They're going to have to get all their stuff ready and try on the new uniforms - and then there will be homework and they won't have a minute to call their own.

It's a duck's life sometimes ..............................
