Diary of an Edinburgher

More gardening!

Today was almost a repeat of yesterday, minus the gym. The plumber and the tiler came, I continued chopping and hacking and digging in the other side of the garden, with a small alcoholic beverage as a reward at the end of a busy day.

So now the big hole/dent in the shower wall, where my shoulder met it several weeks ago, is fixed. And the water drains away properly down the plug hole. Yay!

The plumber arrived with a big water blaster hose contraption. He was a charming young chap, a South African, but had lived in New Zealand for several years, and he had time to sit and chat over a cuppa after he'd flushed out the pipes. He had lived in NZ with a view to emigrating, but decided that the cost of living was just too high, while wages weren't. And recent comments by TMLHereandThere confirmed this. Of course, we told him (several times) that we were going on Safari in SA next week.

Anne took Archie out in the morning, and in the afternoon, Rufus and his mum popped in for a G&T, and had a guided tour (standing in one spot) of the new garden layout. I removed a whole wee tree, and even managed to dig out the roots. This will make getting at the windows easier.

And a BT supervisor arrived to apologise for the destruction of our hedge by a couple of cowboy workers a few weeks ago. They now no longer work for BT.

Two more sleeps! I really had better get packing tomorrow...
