Monumentally wet

I learned six things this morning...

1. The rain will wait until you are as far away from home as you are going to get before it gets really malevolent and starts with the big hailstones (this blip was taken as I stopped to put on my waterproof jacket just as the rain was starting to turn from irritating to painful)

2. Jelly Babies have now definitely edged out Haribo Fangs as my cycling energy boost of choice.

3. The Co-Op Walnut Cake is in every way superior to the equivalent version from Tesco as the post-cycling accompaniment to a strong cup of tea.

4. The Amazon delivery man must wait around the corner until he thinks you are in the shower before ringing the bell.

5. It always makes sense to put your glasses on and carefully read the address label before ripping open the Amazon delivery box, that way you don't discover the lovely surprise birthday present your other half has bought you when you were expecting to find the reinforced boxer shorts you had ordered for the big upcoming ride.

6. If you are going to make the schoolboy error of applying embrocation before you hoist up your under-crackers rather than after then Deep Freeze is a lot more forgiving than Deep Heat and not entirely unpleasant either.

I wonder what the afternoon holds.
