Beach Buddies

This is us at the beach today.

First full day in Hainan and it was awesome. Up a little late.. because we CAN and then went into Sanya to look around. We found a little street place to have breakfast. It's hard to describe what it was but it was GOOD. Then we went for a walk to try to find the beach. We ended up near the fishing docks which was really interesting. People going about the business of selling fish.. A lot of interesting characters too.. Many of who were more than happy to strike a pose for a picture. Then we went to a very famous seafood market. Soooo many different kinds of fish and shellfish and crustaceans. I decided we'd be back to buy at some other time. There are peopel wandering round who will take you to their restaurants and cook the freshly bought stuff.

I was also dtermoined to try betel-nut while I was here and we got some of that.

We went back to the hotel and grabbed beach stuff and walked about half an hour to the beach. On the way we stopped and had an amazing fish for lunch.. There is LOTS of seafood here. We walked along the beach for a long way just watching people having fun and taking pictures. ON the way back we stopped at a fruit store and bought some fruit we'd never tried before.. Snake skin fruit (because that's what it looks like and another something.. Both were OK.

After a little rest we headed back to the seafood market and brought a lobster. I always wanted to try it.. We bought a live one and then a lady took us to her restaurant and they cooked it for us. Never having had lobster before I didn't really know what to expect but it was done in a really nice sauce and was damn fine eating.

We're off on a day tour tomorrow.. Should also be another great day.
