Late September light over a German village

Late September clouds over the village of Seidmannsdorf near Coburg. It was in this area that Martin Luther spent six months at the time of the Diet of Augsburg. When Luther needed to go to confession, the local pastor, Johannes Grosch, travelled from this village up to the castle where Luther was hiding. It was a deeply troubled but productive time in Luther's life. His father died during his stay in Coburg and Luther was frequently troubled by visions of the devil and roaring headaches. He also translated from Latin while awaiting news of the Diet's decision.
