Bar Mitzvah Synagogue

We left home early this a.m. to drive to Westchester NY, for a 10:30 service at this synagogue, which included the Bar Mitzvah (coming of age ceremony) of Sam, the 13-year-old grandson of our old friends Marge and Steve. Photography was not permitted during the service, so I'm putting up this image from just prior to it. In the center is the Ark, which holds the Torah from which Sam read an extensive passage in Hebrew, followed by a commentary on what it meant for him personally. His impressive performance was strongly praised by everyone.

Afterwards we drove into Manhattan, managing a brief visit to the Met, where we saw an exhibition of superb drawings from the Lehman Collection, on the way to dinner at our friend Linda's apartment.
