The window cleaners

We had a wonderful dinner with my brother last night - we went to a restaurant that specialises in steaks, and I can honestly say that I had the best steak I have ever eaten - 200g of the best grass fed fillet for the about £10! We also had a tour of the kitchen and the cold room where the meat is hung, and where the owner explained the difference between grass fed and grain fed beef.

This morning we took Gavin's mom to visit her brother who is in hospital recovering from back surgery. He is in much pain as is to be expected, but hopefully he will recover well. On the way there we drove through Sandton where I saw these window cleaners which I thought would make a good photo. It's not a sight one would ever see in London today due to health and safety rules.

We met up with another old friend for lunch - he was our partner in the accounting practice where we worked many years ago. It was good to see him again after all these years and get his views on the political and economic situation in South Africa.

We spent the afternoon attending to more administrative issues with Gavin's mom and I think it is now all sorted! Then we left in good time to get to the airport as the traffic is awful here - we have seen a few accidents every day as there are some dreadful drivers out there. The ambulance chasers park on the side of the road just waiting for them to happen! There were two accidents on the journey to the airport so thankfully we left in good enough time to get here.

Another long overnight flight to get home, I am feeling quite tired and will be happy to be in my own bed again tomorrow night. Luckily we have been upgraded on this return flight so that should be a more comfortable night's sleep on the plane
