Ostia Antica

Gina's a far bigger history nerd than I am, so she made me promise that I wouldn't visit Pompeii or Herculaneum without her. So instead I decided to go to Ostia Antica, ruins of a port town on the Tiber to get my fix of mosaic floors, crumbling frescoes and amphitheatres. Definately worth it, even with various train and bus delays.

In the evening I went - against my better judgement - with Nick to the 'Irish' pub a stone's throw from the apartment. Ended up having a great time talking to a group of American & German tourists, drinking far too much Morgans, then going back to the flat to fall asleep out on the roof terrace.
