Amore

Some things to love about Florence:

- fantastic views of the entire city from across the river. I climbed to the top of Piazzale Michelangelo where apparently everyone else had the same idea, including what must have been the entire local Chinese community celebrating and posing for wedding photos, all quite charming;

- it's not too busy. Even in the middle of all that I found a completely desrted garden where not a soul went by in over an hour (although I avoided the Ufizi gallery as there was a queue to get in the queue);

- the art and architecture is stunning. Some unbelievable statues, and I didn't appreciate quite how enormous the Duomo really is.

- it costs less to travel there from Rome (9 euros) than it does for to go from Edinburgh to Dundee (£25) on a train that's faster, on time, and doesn't smell of farts and lager.
