Wednesday 21 January 2009: Heron in Flight....
Couldn't find any Green Finches today so you will have to put up with a Heron, or else it would have been a Swan or Robin.
I got to the reserve only to find that some Burke has opened the sluce gate to the reserves lake, so when the Rangers got here they found that the lake had gone down about 3' (1M), but it meant that the birds who needed water had to come closer to the hide, and that was when I got this shot, just as the heron was taking off to get to some more open water.

Our little works is having a good January, so good it has surprised me.
