The North River.

I had a lovely lunch with Susan Zettell , a writer who moved here permanently, from Ontario, about 7-8 years. But, as she told me some of her story, she originally landed on Cape Breton Island in the early 1970's.....along with a few other 'from away' hippy types! She only stayed a few years at that stage.

Susan is one of the new women friends i feel i am connecting with here, and i so totally enjoyed chatting with her about all sorts of things. Then on the way home, our 4-6 show on CBC, Main Street...was broadcasting a road trip they did around the St. Ann's Bay and North River community. Susan was part of that interview, along with a few others! It was fascinating to learn more about this wonderful community. Lots of references to the open hearted, warm and friendly welcome that folks here extend to us that have arrived here from somewhere else! I certainly have experienced that wonderful sense of being accepted.

The Thanksgiving Turkey carcass is in the big soup pot, and now i'm off to the garden for fresh veggies to add to it....the aroma of soup is such an autumnal symbol.
