Fox Glacier

Interesting night camping in the Arawhata river bed, and awoke to light drizzle. So we packed up, after the kids had a big ride around, including riding through the river; and started north, hoping to try and beat some of the rain, heavy falls predicted.

Stopped en-route at Ship Beach for an hour or so, did the nature walks and watch some blokes whitebaiting.

Around 2 hours drive North is Fox Glacier, one of the few glaciers in the world where the river of ice descends for the mountains and "flows" through the forest. Sadly, the rain didn't hold off and we had a rather wet 1.5 hours walk to view it. Lots of other crazy tourists doing it also, so we didn't feel too bad.

Back to the camper of off to find a campsite for the night, to dry off and have an early night. Free camped just outside of Fox on another river, not as pretty as last night, but still very nice.
