Self-explanatory blip - weather wise.

As for yesterday - thanks for those that offered sympathy. Nuts to those of you that didn't ;) To underline how serious this injury is ...

a) using a tooth-whiteness colour chart I would estimate that there is at least one, possibly two shades different between the colour of the bad finger and a known good one,

b) tightening a cable tie around the bad finger then transferring it to the equivalent good one, it is quite obviously a very sloppy fit - I estimate a good 2 or 3mm extra circumference where it's swollen.

c) the steady-state pain levels are equivalent to mild toothache - the sort of toothache you tell yourself it'll be OK but if it nags on and on for a couple of weeks you might think about ringing the dentist - UNTIL you knock it and which point there's some swearing involved.
