CARTOGRAPHY

One of the many useful maps of Shetland and its outlying islands.

Today we got two very good birds, a Barred Warbler, which has been a bogey bird for many years, and a Chaffinch, which is quite a difficult find here.

We were up and about early to meet the incoming ferry at 7:45 to collect my binoculars which I had left at home. Crikey, the cost of paying someone to travel up from Yorkshire, then an overnight ferry to Lerwick, to hand deliver them was astronomical! But when we dropped him off at Tingwall airport for his flight to Fair Isle he waived the cost. Good man!

And so another hectic day. I’m not sure when the “holiday” part starts ......
