no ordinary cup...
...of flowers
or tea... or hot chocolate - or whatever you might fill your cup with...
a couple years ago - i introduced you to an artist friend of mine via another print titled no ordinary sunset... it's one of my most favorite prints i have in the house - not only because it was done by a friend - but because of the way in which he completed it...
as with this one - accomplished by spending hours finding just the right words in media print form - in the perfect color, shade, tone for the picture - then taking an inordinate number of hours - placing them into the exact form necessary to create the replica of the photo he's taken - adhering it to the canvas... this particular image was done after i'd confessed to enjoying tea every day - year 'round...
this is a process done lovingly - something begun as a kid... while the rest of us were playing around outside - he was collecting papers, magazines - anything with words... full of color to use - cutting and saving - coordinating and organizing - the very beginnings of becoming an artist... we used to tease him about it - this obsession of his - the hours spent immersed... we still tease him - it's what happens after you've known someone since you were 10 years old... but we also acknowledge his gift - his inate ability to create - to imagine - to interpret his vision - because those who see his work - have...
