Fixing The Phones

The other day I mentioned how the telephone wires get in the way of a good photo; today the tables were turned and they provided my blip.

When we moved into this house there was a gate in our back fence which gave access to the telegraph pole, the technicians would ring the doorbell and carry their ladders through to the back. When houses were built behind us a continuous fence was erected but for years the technicians still tried to reach the pole through our garden, causing damage and much exasperation. It took some time and hand-delivered letters to Telephone House before it dawned on BT that this access no longer existed and they should go to the new house.

So it was interesting to watch the men putting up a ladder and attending to their business in the garden behind us without any inconvenience to ourselves.
