Limbless

Just visible are the legs of the man who has cut off another limb of this willow tree growing beside Lake Wakatipu. Crack willow was introduced by the settlers to New Zealand but the fast growing tree has become a major problem because it forms vast dense thickets causing blockages and flooding. It easily spreads by small fragments of stems and is carried by water and so readily produces new plants.
