Marble steps

Another set of steps but unfortunately the photo doesn’t do them justice.

The 104 steps of the A-listed Scotsman Steps were completed in 1899 as a public way linking North Bridge near the main entrance to the Scotsman newspaper building with the distribution centre below beside Waverley Station. Since the newspaper moved to the Holyrood area in 1999 the building has become the top class Scotsman Hotel but the steps became an area where one rushed up or down quickly because of their dreadful state. Now they are a place to linger and marvel at their beauty since the Turner prize winning artist Martin Creed was commissioned to create a public work of art for the steps. Each step is now covered with marble making it a delightful and colourful stair with shades of all colours in many kinds of patterns from countries from throughout the world and I think no two are the same.
