Rabbie Burns

Today's the day . . . . . . . . . . . . for a poet

This is a statue of Robert Burns (1759-1796), the famous Scottish poet, erected by the inhabitants of Dumfries (with the aid of many friends) as a loving tribute to their fellow townsman, on April 8th 1882.

And behind him, with its spire reaching for the clouds, is Greyfriars Kirk . . . . . . . . . .
