View to Inverness, over the firth from North Kessock, at dawn.

Walked in from North Kessock today (took the car to/from there). Temperatures were Baltic, especially crossing the Kessock bridge in a slight breeze. Struggled a bit on the return walk after work, through a combination of tiredness and hunger. Hardier folk did cycle, but I felt no guilt or envy of them, or the cyclist I overtook on the way home. The temperature gauge read -5 degrees C. In the days before owning a car, I'd have taken the bus in such weather. Cycling in the cold or dark, I don't have problems with. The two together are distinctly more iffy. Especially when there are sheets of ice across some parts of the back-road.
