Split pin - more split than it should be.

Once replaced, one heavy duty food mixer was sorted. Also sorted for the catering department, was a soup kettle - a fancy pot that keeps soup warm. Prior to checking it, I'd been informed that, "If I wiggle the lead about, I can get it to work." Inside, a crimp on the live wire had somehow come off the switch/thermostat. Had that person wiggled it just slightly more, the (uninsulated) crimp would have touched the metal case, and made it live. And because the earth connection was extremely loose, a hefty electric shock may have followed... if not electrocution. One reason to have any kind of electrical faults thoroughly checked...
