Another day, another crossing

Beyond Fishguard's old harbour the Irish ferry glides out towards the open sea: a daily occurrence but one that still stops me in my tracks. This crossing departs at 2.30pm and reaches Rosslare at 6pm; the return trip is in the middle of the night.

It's ebb tide with some rare midwinter sunshine gilding the gently undulating water as it retreats across the mud. A small yellow motor boat, left high and dry, caught my eye. You can see it better a bit bigger.
