New growth

A quick dash out after a morning of rain and before I was due to leave for the afternoon. Everything was still dripping and the smell of freshness pervasive. I found these small suckers growing at the base of an ash tree.

I loved the rich dark brown colour of the wet bark glistening after a soaking, contrasting with the green shoots in the early stages of busting their buds. The addition of a nut shell, twig and root are interesting additional notes to this little scene.
