Despite the weather

or maybe because of it.

Iris unguicularis produces its delicate flowers in mild spells throughout the winter. The current wet and windy weather is at least mild so we have regular treats! As I picked this one I noticed a pencil-like bud waiting in the wings.

Best grown in a warm, sunny spot, here against a south wall, there are a number of named clones which vary in colour. I raised this one from home produced seed.
