Does anyone know where we are?" shouted the bus conductor/navigator with the A-Z map open his knee. Clearly neither he nor the driver did, so we ended up missing out on the highlight of the intended trip, a photo-opp at St Swithun's church at Leonard Stanley.

Never mind. The sun shone, the bus did not break down, and the vintage bus gala was enjoyed by a huge variety of people. How do they do it? Free bus rides around the five valleys, buses from all over the West, the Midlands and Wales.
