New Year

A fine start to the year down at the Scout Hall with friends and neighbours. Games for kids, a bit of country dancing and lots of chat. Ellen almost made it to the bells but crashed out on a pile of coats. Ewan made it to the end, looking a bit punch-drunk by the time he and the other kids fell into their beds. The rest of us lasted until 3am before giving up.

Up at 9 (or was it 10?) to make pancakes and sausages, plenty of tea and coffee and clear away the mountain of dishes. A nice stroll to the windy harbour to watch the loons dooking and then a wander home to crash out on the sofa. The eyelids are starting to droop. I'm too old for this. Luckily the new year doesn't really start until Thursday when life goes back to normal so I don't feel bad that my good intentions have already gone adrift.
