Thermal area Orakei Korako Hidden Valley

Visited the thermal area of Orakei Korako, which I recommend if you are in the area. The people running this place are so nice - my husband has trouble with steps, and we didn't realise quite how slowly he would need to take it, so we missed the last boat back (you need to cross the river to reach the area, in a boat). The staff could not have been more pleasant, bringing the boat over, and even offering to reopen the shop for us if we needed them to.

They offer free camping for campervans, and free wi fi, all included in the fee to visit the area. The site was spotlessly clean and very attractive.

What a difference it makes to the experience!

The area has all sorts of geysers, brightly coloured terraces and water, and is very safe and well organised with board walks etc.
