Butleigh Court

Back to Tuesday golf this week, on a very wet and muddy course but another sunny winter's day. Forgot to put new batteries in my small camera so you've been saved a golfing blip. Instead, here's Butleigh Court where the Cedar Avenue from Sunday's blip start's from. I'd mistakenly thought Admiral Hood's family lived here, but further research revealed that his father was the local vicar, so presumably they lived in the nearby vicarage. The Court was the country pile of the Neville-Grenville family: apparently, according to local legend the family was cursed to die out within one hundred years - and did so. The Court is now converted into various family homes and apartments, I believe and the village cricket club play on a pitch with this picturesque backdrop.

The house is grander large.
