I don't know how long since anyone has paddled in this overgrown ditch. The ditch cuts across some very overgrown land near home that hasn't been farmed for years, the land is in a terrible state with weeds and brambles making it difficult to walk across. It must be a real haven for wildlife, last time I was over here at dusk I disturbed an owl that was perched in a tree.

I did find a bracket fungi that I can't identify on a rotten branch off an old hawthorn in the bottom of the ditch, have a look here if you have got the time.
