Trains

Possibly the best museum of village life you could imagine! So much to see, absolutely full of everything from farm machinery to hand made lace. Lots of items that I remember from my grandparents house, rural life in the Yorkshire Dales wouldn't have been very different from in Northumberland, there was even an old motorbike like my granda's there.

Having read about the Terrible Knitters of Dent, it was fascinating to get to know more about them. They were terrible in the terribly good sense! Fast and furious, knitting because their livelihoods depended on it.

It is so well laid out and everywhere you look there is something eye catching and interesting. The model railway was great, with the train going over the Settle viaduct as it sensed you walking towards it.

The fact that apple pie and clotted cream, and a selection of cakes, were available in the cafe, was an added attraction!
