Bay Of Islands
This morning we drove up to see a couple of waterfalls after breakfast.
The first of these was Paranui Falls at the AH Reed Memorial Kauri Park where we had a short walk through the woods and on an elevated walkway (first extra). The falls themselves were again a bit of a damp squib - little water was flowing over them though we could hear something.
The second falls at Whangarei were more substantial, though still nowhere near a torrent (second extra).
At lunch we drove up to Pahia and shared a tasty bratwurst.
For the afternoon we were booked on a three hour boat cruise out to The Hole In The Rock (main blip) in the Bay of Islands. This proved to be a bit choppy, especially once we got out of the bay and into the ocean swell. Early in the cruise Tim, and his camera, got drenched by ocean spray - both survived unscathed! Sometimes the boat can go through the hole but today it was much too rough. On the way back we managed to find some dolphins (third extra) which joined us for a while. This was back out in the ocean swell, so was rather rough at times!
After returning back to Pahia, we had tea and cake and then drove through to our hotel.
The last extra is a view of the beach and the Bay of Islands.
