Bright Eyes
It was a day for ornitherapy, despite gusty winds and chilly temps. Too windy for the hide, so I just tried to stay very still and blend in. In truth, these friendly little black-capped chickadees don't hesitate to get very close, sometimes even landing on an arm or head. They are paired up for the nesting season now meaning that there are always two chirping to each other as they pound open their seeds.
I did some odds and ends in the garden today, removing a bunch of dead limbs from the cherry tree, pulling some weeds and such. It wasn't a good day for a walk so pottering in the garden was a good substitute. Hubs has also been out on our hillside clearing underbrush and weedy things. His job search is pretty much at a dead halt with unemployment rates through the roof, so having work to do around the yard really helps.
We donned our make-shift masks and went to the local feed store to stalk up on bird seed today. We were the only people in the store other than workers, which was nice. And now I don't have to go for at least a month.
I have stayed well away from television news today which has helped my overall state of mind. Thank you for the supportive words yesterday. As most of you know, I struggle with depression so times like this can be a challenge. Thank goodness its spring!
State numbers posted below. I don't think we are showing any signs of slowing down and our numbers will pass 30, 000 this weekend.
You know the drill ... wash your hands, don't touch your face, stay away from other people/crowds and, above all, be kind. What a wonderful community this is.
