Life in Sunny Dubai

A bit of a mixed bag in my blip today!

Plans to go to the East Coast got scrapped. G cited the fact that Monday will be quieter to have lunch in the hotel we like to go into. I think she is right. So, we finally got ourselves to Festival Plaza today. It opened last December but we haven't been. It is built close to the Jebel Ali church complex and hosts Dubai's second IKEA.

Coronavirus must have really thwarted their establishment plans. Even on Eid weekend, it wasn't busy. IKEA was busier than any of the other stores, with their restaurant as popular as ever. We hadn't eaten breakfast before we left, so we made a beeline to get some food.

We had a quick walk through the Mall which very surprisingly has a Lulu Hypermarket rather than Carrefour. What a surprise. It was definitely the smartest Lulu we've ever been in. They had the two things that we've been searching for for several weeks that Carrefour doesn't stock anymore - Marmite and Branston Pickle!

On the way out, we met Kyle, one of our T&T kids. He was in the same queue as me to buy ice cream! I didn't recognise him in his smart blazer! Interesting kid! We chatted with his mum later and she told us how much he likes to dress up and look smart when he goes out!

We came home straight down the highway making a little detour towards Burj Khalifa. G took a few pictures through the windscreen! The rest of the day was quiet. I can't believe it is August today. Only five more months left of this crazy year.
