The Other Bridge

I went for a walk along the River Clyde after work, I've notice great improvements to the walkway.

Previously (100 years ago) the Caledonian Railway terminated south of the river at Bridge Street. It was then extended over the river on this bridge to Central Station which then only had 9 platforms. It was later extended to 15 platforms and they built a larger bridge (background). However both bridges existed in operation for many years.

Urban legend states that this was in the Guinness Book of Records for having 4 river crossings within 200 meters (a pair or road bridges sandwich these bridges). That was until the 1960s when the original bridge deck was removed leaving the current bridge to service the entire station. The stone columns remain defiant in the water.
