Blooming Roses!

Today 13.2.13 was my third day of substitution with third graders and what a challenging but loveable bunch they have been.

Tomorrow is friendship day....no saints or valentines here!!! .....so the days busy'ness revolved around the making of cards and envelopes to celebrate their friendships!!!

"How do they live with themselves?" I ask.....when so many of their friendship values are orientated around who gives them what!!!! and as for writing a 'love note' for their maids alias mums!!!! They clearly had it all scrambled in their heads!!!

A Steep learning curve they went through today, I could not let that opportunity pass by!

The day ended in a sticky mess whilst turning solids (butter and marshmallows) into gooey gunge liquids and back again into a revolting sticky mass solid once more.....before they then devoured their experiment all in the name of practical science!

Before leaving my charges, at the end of the day, I felt this gentle tug at my sleeve and was presented with these two beautiful yellow crepe paper roses.

My border line aspergers child who spends the biggest part of his day outside the classroom under the tutelage of his own private assistant, attending only the formal parts of the lessons, today just refused to be outside...and for once, made his voice heard! He wanted to work with his friends!

We enjoyed his company and I was really touched by this gesture of friendship in giving me roses he had asked his assistant to help him make! For him, this would have been a big step forward on his journey towards integration and he facilitated it all by himself! Well done Mohammed.

Think these roses will be around for a long while!!!!

Happy Blipping Everyone!
