Woodhead (or Woodend)

Went exploring the Dreghorn area for the first time and found this disused cottage at the back of the Barracks, on what was the drive to Dreghorn Castle.

It appears as Woodhead on maps of 1894 but earlier maps (1855) show a cottage of the same name in a slightly different position, so it is difficult to ascertain its true date or, indeed, its true name - other sources refer to Woodend. The earlier location is now covered by modern housing.

It is also of a curious mixture of architectural style, the entrance appears to be alien to the rest of the building. (I have a theory that this might be another of James Macfie's aquisitions, possibly from the Infirmary, contemporary with the Drummond Scrolls and Covenanters' Memorial, as he was at one time owner of Dreghorn Castle).
