Dolcezza Della Vita

Red...

Finally finished the bottle of Acrux. A coworker picked it up for me while he was in Chile...we like to exchange bottles. It was strong - great combination of the best wines of every vintage. Acrux stands for Alpha Crux - the most brilliant star of the Southern Cross.

Colchagua Valley is a great region for wines, reds - started up in the 90's. Vina Sutil is family owned and is located in southwest Santiago - valley is a natural corridor formed by the coastal mountain range and the Andes and is irrigated by the pure cool waters from the mountains. The valley extends from the Pacific Ocean to the foot of the Andes.

The four seasons are well defined in the Colchagua Valley...with virtually no rain in the summer and lots in the winter. The temps during the night/day fluctuate between 22 degrees allowing the grapes to ripen slowly...resulting in wines w/ a deep color...smooth tannin...fruity flavors...and acid balance. Wines from this region are also high in polyphenols, the good stuff that makes me drink reds so much ;)
