Hummingbird

Our little field trips up to the UCSC Arboretum always reward us with interesting sights. Hummingbirds love the South African Erica collection, an amazing selection of these colorful plants. Although I was just a few feet away, I never could manage a front shot, but just look at how deep his beak goes into the flower! 

I'm having a hard time realizing that Christmas is just a few days away. The holiday spirit just isn't happening. Tree, lights, carols on the piano, maybe some traditional food on Christmas eve, but where are the people?
