In The Occupied Territory

Hanging around

A couple of years ago Aberdeen City Council introduced Night Taxi ranks. What happens is, at Midnight all the city centre taxi stances that are situated off the main street, Union Street, are effectively closed, and the punters have to go to the four ranks that are on the more brighter lit Union, to get a cab. There are security marshalls at 3 if these ranks.
Now, as I said, this has been a couple of years since this has been in operation, but still there are people who hang around the day ranks hoping somebody will pick them up, despite the signs telling them about the other ones, despite the night ranks having cars on them and despite the fact that dozens if empty taxis drive past them.
I used to stop and inform them of the night ranks, but, believe it or not, I used to get verbally abused by some folk for doing so. So now I don't.
