Retaining wall plans

We have finally come to a decision on the support structure for the lawn near the shed at the right hand side of our garden, i.e. where the pallets lean in my blip of 1st March. We were going to use galvanised steel, but the high cost, low availability, and long delivery times have put us off doing so. Instead we will build a retaining wall with hollow dense concrete blocks (AKA breeze blocks), secured with steel rods. Once constructed, we will do our best to disguise the blocks with paint and plants. Mr hazelh drew up some plans when calculating the quantities of material required (one is blipped), then placed the order. All being well, the blocks should be with us soon.

My working day was as busy as every Wednesday. Amongst the usual meetings and supervisions, Marina and I delivered our training session Work essential or extra workload? The value of creating a personal professional web presence (blogged details are available, as are the slides). I also enjoyed a late afternoon conference 'dry run' session at which Rachel and Marina practised their presentations for a conference that they will be attending in a couple of weeks. The last two internal peer review reports on my co-authored journal article (from David B and Gunilla) winged their way to me today too, so now I am all set to start editing the final version for submission.

Exercise today: none.
