Empty(ish) city

G hasn't been well for a couple of days. We've been monitoring it but today he broke a fever.

We did the responsible thing, contacted our household bubble and immediately isolated. After 10 mins filling in the online form, finding out if the covid taxi fleet counted as a private vehicle to get to a test site (it did) the nearest centre was a 30 mile round trip when already not feeling well. Form failed so I called up the phone line, ten minutes later we were booked in to the walk in centre a 4 mile round trip on foot. Whilst he probably should have gone alone I went with him for support whilst feeling wobbly.

As I sat outside waiting whilst he was getting tested, I spent some time reflecting on both how busy town felt given the circumstances and also how quiet it felt to be sat with barely anyone passing by what is normally a busy place.

Thankfully we found out the next day it was negative. Most likely K or I had brought in the flu but we both get jabs so faught it whereas poor G didn't.
