Silverware

The Lancashire Football Association Challenge Trophy was first contested in 1885 and the final that year was won by Bell's Temperance who beat Darwen.

Tonight I have been at The Reebok Stadium, Bolton, for the latest final between Bacup Borough and AFC Fylde.

I was given a complimentary ticket for the posh meal before the game and a seat in the Directors' Box, which was very nice of AFC Fylde.

After a good game AFC Fylde were 2-0 winners.

The trophy is now so old and so valuable that the winning club is no longer allowed to take the trophy home. It is returned to the vault at the end of the evening.

As a piece of silverware I do think it's really very nice.
