Who has the big feet?

Both of us! Bearing in mind that my welly footprint is size 43, it is clear just how well-endowed is the heron - feet especially designed for wading in rivers and, when possible, our 'pond'.

We met another (human) local resident there, apparently he had seen frogspawn a few days ago; we saw none today, although snow on the surface does fool the eye. He also has been concerned enough to contact the Council so it was good to meet another guardian of the pond and its wildlife.
