Heron

While we were watching the snowfall this morning we were excited to see a sparrowhawk fly across the garden. It landed in our tree but not in a position to photograph for blip.

Despite the snow, a pair of ducks flew past and back - they used to nest by the pond before it dried up.

Later Miss Flum saw a heron flying over, towards the 'pond', presumably looking for frogs - so Mr. Flum and I just had to go and see.

And what a surprise! No frogs (well, it's too cold and snowy) but we have a pond! With a run of water to fill it!! And ducks!!! So the heron was not mistaken after all. It obligingly sat in a tree where we could see it clearly from the upper level and my blip was in the bag.
