Friday 16 March 2012: Fairmilehead Park
Actually, it's in Comiston. There is a lot of grass for games and dogwalking, a recently renovated playpark (not in view), mature trees and a wee burn, so what's missing from this perfect park? A pond.
Behind the treeline, at the left and down in a dip, is where our frogs are coming to spawn. Today I counted eight couples and two singetons hopeful of starting another generation. There is still no water for the spawn but fortunately we had rain today, which will refresh the area.
I'm delighted that hcalibrarian has arranged to adopt the rest of last week's rescue mission, however I'm tempted to go and collect a bit more spawn to raise in the garden.
