Now that the hot sunny weather of July is but a distant memory, D has turned our front hallway into a mini studio and paints there every afternoon. Here he is, working some magic with charcoal and golden mica as I was setting out for a walk. I put on my waterproof trousers (the first  outing they have had in a long time) and rain jacket and it was ok. Now, at last, the rain has cleared and we have sunshine and blue sky...

Mum got taken into hospital last night as she was speaking a language none of us could understand, and she wasn't happy about it. Today when Dad visited, she was smiling, and some of her normal speech has returned. Whether its a stroke or some metabolic imbalance, we are waiting to find out. This has happened before with a good recovery but no real diagnosis, which is frustrating. It's not easy being so far away but my brother has been a real star :-)
