Sally Mair - Loving life

Haddington

Having enjoyed yesterday's warm weather in East Lothian, we believed the promise of more again today. We headed down to Haddington in the early afternoon and parked near the Town House, blipped is the Brown Memorial drinking fountain which is topped by a statue of Samson in all his glory! The fountain is claimed on Google to be both 19th century and erected in 1924. Perhaps the statue existed before being placed on the fountain.
The fountain was restored a few years ago, like the Ross memorial fountain in Princes Street Gardens, they've made a good job of it. We had lunch in the Loft again, nice and peaceful and away from both traffic and crowds. We wandered around Haddington for the afternoon. Although the promised hot sunshine didn't appear, it was quiet warm.
Back home we dropped some things into Ali's and I popped into Lidl. I'm enjoying having the new shop at the Craigleith centre. I think local restaurants may be enjoying it too. Last week I saw a woman with a laden trolley. It contained at least 20 packs of 8 chicken quarters, and a similar number of packs of both mince and fresh burgers. I don't know if she cleared the fridges, but there can't have been many left.
We had chicken in creme fraiche and green pepper corn sauce for dinner one of my favourites and very simple.
We watched episode 2 of the most recent series of Vera. Sadly we'll have to wait till next year for the next 4 as covid interrupted the filming.

Friday today so here is the link for the art quiz. 9 for me today.
