The Edge of the Wold

A bad hair day

It was a cold and windy day again, and the Highlands were looking a touch windblown.

This was on Gus's morning walk. In the afternoon, after more agonising over cars, we went to see Mags and walked over Scout Scar. Then home via S & J's to drop off little M's 5th birthday present.

S and I were remembering back to this time last year, the lads' annual camping trip to the Cairngorm pinewoods. On this day exactly a year ago, we were walking in to Glen Feshie. Over the next couple of days, we were yomping over the Arctic waste of the Cairngorm plateau in T-shirts and shorts in temperatures over 20 C. Today it was maybe 1 or 2 degrees, with a windchill that made it feel much colder, and I was wearing a T shirt, two fleeces and a windproof winter coat. And that is in oceanic coastal Cumbria, not the coldest place in Britain.
